A man who appeared drunk insulted and threatened a woman in a hijab in the Moscow metro in late September after she said she was from Chechnya, asking passengers, "Are there any Chechens here?" He later apologized in a video and, the next day, on his knees to the woman, the Chechen people and Ramzan Kadyrov, saying a man named Muhammed had asked him to kneel.

Lawyer Patimat Abdulayeva told the Caucasian Knot that forcing such an apology through threats could constitute a criminal offense under Russian law.
