Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi discussed the security of Kazakh ships in the Black Sea with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha in New York during a session of the United Nations General Assembly.
In remarks to Kazakhstan-based Ulysmedia, Tleuberdi said new drone attacks targeting Kazakh vessels must be prevented.

Two tankers hit by drone attacks
At the end of July, two tankers near the Caspian Pipeline Consortium’s maritime terminal on the Black Sea coast were hit by drone attacks during the night. Oil-loading operations were temporarily suspended after the incident.
Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry described attacks targeting vessels used by the consortium to transport oil as interference in the country’s interests.
Astana calls for the resumption of negotiations
Tleuberdi also said that bilateral relations and the conflict situation surrounding Ukraine were discussed during his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Tleuberdi said Kazakhstan supports the resumption of negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv as soon as possible and announced that his country was ready to provide a platform for the talks if the parties wished.
Kazakhstan’s main oil export route
The Caspian Pipeline Consortium’s oil pipeline system is described as the largest route used to deliver oil from the Caspian region to global markets. The system carries more than 80 percent of Kazakhstan’s oil exports.
Kazakhstan’s Energy Minister Erlan Akkenzhenov described the drone attacks on the consortium’s facilities as one of the challenges facing the country’s oil sector in 2026.
