Drone strikes targeting energy facilities in southern Russia killed two people and injured two others. Two oil refineries in the Krasnodar and Rostov regions were damaged, and one of the facilities temporarily suspended operations.
Krasnodar Region Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said that debris from drones shot down during an attack on the Afipsky Oil Refinery, attributed to Ukraine, killed two people and injured two others. A fire broke out at the refinery site after the attack.
Novoshakhtinsky Refinery halts operations
The Novoshakhtinsky Refinery in the Rostov region was also damaged in a separate drone attack. The facility’s management temporarily halted oil processing operations following the damage.
The Afipsky and Novoshakhtinsky refineries had previously been targeted in drone attacks. Attacks on oil refineries in Russia have intensified since the beginning of the year, increasing fuel shortages across the country during the summer months.
