Jeyhun Bayramov and Marco Rubio discussed the Azerbaijan-U.S. strategic partnership and the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia during a phone call on October 5.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said the two sides discussed the current state and prospects for developing the strategic partnership, as well as issues related to the normalization process.
The ministers said significant progress had been made toward a strategic partnership in bilateral relations following the high-level meeting held in Washington on August 8, 2025. They emphasized that working groups operating in the priority areas set out in the Strategic Partnership Charter would further deepen cooperation.
The ministers also reviewed the results achieved under the strategic partnership in 2026. Documents signed during Baku Energy Week and the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum in the areas of energy, the exploration, development and production of hydrocarbon resources, investment, digital technologies and trade expanded the practical scope of bilateral cooperation, they noted.
Bayramov briefed the U.S. side on Azerbaijan’s steps to advance its peace agenda, build trust and strengthen regional stability.
The two ministers also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
