New steps to strengthen Ukraine's warfighting capabilities were on the agenda during a phone call between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Emmanuel Macron. After the call, Zelenskyy announced that a new defense package planned for Ukraine was being prepared and was expected to arrive soon.
The two leaders also discussed the contents of the defense package under preparation. Zelenskyy said Ukrainian pilots would soon begin training in France to fly Rafale aircraft, describing the development as a significant step for Ukraine's fighter aircraft capabilities.
The phone call also covered the current situation in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, as well as the production of French missiles and aerial bombs in Ukraine.
Zelenskyy said work on preparing the FREYJA system was continuing and that the two sides had exchanged views on accelerating the process. They agreed to discuss these issues in detail at a face-to-face meeting.
