Authorities seize 56 kilograms of pregabalin in Volgograd and detain four suspects
More than 56 kilograms of pregabalin were seized in Russia’s Volgograd region as part of a drug investigation involving six suspects from different regions. One woman and three men were detained, while two suspects were placed under house arrest.
An operation in the Volgograd region was conducted as part of an investigation into a criminal group allegedly involved in online drug trafficking and comprising six suspects from different regions. More than 56 kilograms of a potent substance were seized during the operation.
The Volgograd Region Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said the case file indicated that a woman living in Yekaterinburg had joined the group in November 2022.
The substance was distributed to five couriers
According to investigators, the woman received packages containing large quantities of pregabalin from unidentified individuals. She divided the packages into smaller doses and handed them over to five drug couriers working in Volzhsky, in the Volgograd region.
Police determined that the woman had received approximately 58 kilograms of pregabalin and earned more than 1.08 million rubles from the activity. More than 56 kilograms of pregabalin were seized during the operation.
Judicial measures imposed on suspects
The suspects were charged, according to their duties and roles, with participating in a criminal group and illegally trafficking potent or poisonous substances for the purpose of sale.
One woman and three men were detained. Two suspects were placed under house arrest.
The case files were sent to the Kirovsky District Court in Yekaterinburg and the Volzhsky City Court in the Volgograd region.
