Russian State Duma Deputy Speaker Anna Kuznetsova announced during a speech at the International Legal Forum in St. Petersburg that 31 laws strengthening family values have recently passed through parliament.
Speaking at a session titled 'Krepkaya semya kak tsennostny orientir semeynogo zakonodatelstva' (Strong Family as a Value Guideline for Family Legislation), Kuznetsova said, 'We have recently adopted 31 laws strengthening family values.'
Family migration from Europe to Russia
Kuznetsova emphasized that the state assists Russian citizens living abroad in returning to the country, especially when non-traditional values are being imposed.
'More than three thousand families have moved to Russia from Europe. These are large families who share traditional values and face the threat of having their children taken away. The state protects their rights,' she said.
Comparison in abortion policy
Addressing the issue of abortion, Kuznetsova noted that in some European countries, dissuading a woman from having an abortion is subject to criminal penalties. In contrast, she stated that one of the state's primary tasks in Russia is to protect children and that assistance is offered to women in difficult situations.
The 14th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum is being held from June 24 to 26. RIA Novosti is the general information partner of the forum.
