Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced he will meet with US President Donald Trump at the NATO summit in Ankara.
In a social media post on Saturday, Zelenskiy announced that he had a phone call with Trump. During the call, he congratulated Trump on the 250th anniversary of US independence.
The Ukrainian leader described the phone call as 'very good' and thanked the US for its support to Ukraine. 'We greatly value the US support in defending our independence,' he said.
Zelenskiy noted that they also discussed the latest developments in the Russia-Ukraine war. He stated that there is a 'real chance' to end the war and that the US stance would be decisive in this regard.
The two leaders agreed to continue discussing this issue by meeting directly during the NATO Summit in Ankara on Tuesday and Wednesday.
