Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Secretary-General Mathias Cormann in the capital Kyiv.
Speaking after the meeting, Zelenskyy emphasized that OECD membership is of great importance for Kyiv. Noting that Ukraine has taken a new step on this path, Zelenskyy added that Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko had submitted the country's updated official membership application to the OECD.
Zelenskyy said, "We hope to obtain candidate country status this autumn. The next stage will be the roadmap toward OECD membership. We discussed these matters during the meeting."
The talks also placed special emphasis on Ukraine's progress on the path to European integration and the implementation of reforms needed for accelerated membership in the European Union (EU).
The parties also exchanged views on the implementation of the EU's financial support package for Ukraine, strengthening sanctions against Russia, and contacts with international partners.
Zelenskyy thanked Mathias Cormann and the OECD for their support to the Ukrainian people on the path to reform and peace.
