Yuliya Mendel criticized conscription practices in Ukraine over footage allegedly showing a man being forcibly put into a minibus by personnel responsible for military enlistment procedures in Lviv.
Mendel, former press secretary to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that men were being taken from the streets and put into vehicles to be sent to the front.

Mendel also wrote that Zelenskyy had described the practice of apprehending people in the streets as a priority in January and had assigned the issue to the new defense minister. Arguing that the situation had not changed despite the change in defense ministers, Mendel criticized the government for remaining silent.
She claimed that this approach was leaving people with two options: leaving the country or paying a bribe.
