The first three tankers carrying Russian diesel to North America have departed. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said the fuel vessels were heading toward the eastern shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
Novak said the shipments were being made with significant support from the Russian Direct Investment Fund. The fuel aboard the tankers is planned for delivery to the US and global markets.

The Russian deputy prime minister announced that Russian companies had the capacity to supply 500,000 metric tons of diesel in October. The agreement announced this month by US President Donald Trump projected a supply of 300,000 metric tons for October, with larger shipments expected later.
Under the agreement, the US administration temporarily lifted sanctions on Russian fuel aimed at depriving Moscow of revenues used to finance the war in Ukraine. Lowering fuel prices is also among the regulation's objectives.
According to ship-tracking data, the first Russian diesel was loaded onto a tanker heading for New York.
