Ukraine's Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov confirmed his resignation in a statement on social media. Fedorov listed the reforms he was unable to complete and the obstacles he faced during his tenure.
Fedorov said his primary goal was to completely restructure the Ukrainian Defense Ministry according to NATO standards and effective management principles. "We implemented the new structure, dismissed many people, initiated many processes. But we needed to more decisively dismiss those who slowed down the changes," he said.
The defense minister also noted that he was unable to transition all ministry procurement to a tender system and could not establish a full culture of accountability within the institution.
Fedorov thanked his team and stated that he would continue to contribute to efforts to strengthen Ukraine's defense capacity.
