A commander serving in Russia's 'Ahmat' special forces unit shared details of drone (UAV) operations targeting Ukrainian military logistics lines in the Sumy region. The commander stated that the Ukrainian army's supply routes in this critical area near the Russian border are being systematically struck.
Speaking to RIA Novosti, the commander, who uses the code name 'Aid', said that almost no vehicles can move from Sumy towards the front line. The commander said, "Transport is only carried out during dark hours, and even then it does not always reach its destination. This is a big problem for them. We are destroying the enemy's logistics chains, we know their routes, and we are gradually beginning to choke these routes."
The Sumy region is seen as key to the 'security zone' planned to be created to protect border areas, in line with the directive given by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2026. The military operations in the region are the responsibility of units attached to the 'Sever' (North) military group, which is conducting active combat activities.
Putin had previously stated that Russia has no political plans for the city and region of Sumy.
