Russia’s Defense Ministry said 297 Ukrainian drones were intercepted across the country and in Crimea, which Russia annexed, between Monday night and Tuesday morning. Oil refineries in Samara and Bashkortostan were also targeted in strikes carried out during the same period.
Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, governor of the Samara region, said one person was killed and four were wounded in the attack. Fedorishchev said the drone strike targeted industrial facilities.
Oil facilities targeted
Ukraine’s military said the Rosneft-operated Kuibyshev oil refinery was hit. The facility, located southwest of Samara, has been targeted several times during the war.
Ukrainian authorities also said that the Rosneft-owned Bashneft-UNPZ refinery in the Republic of Bashkortostan was targeted. Some footage on social media appeared to show thick black smoke rising above the Kuibyshev refinery on Tuesday morning.
11 civilians wounded in Belgorod
Alexander Shuvayev, acting governor of Russia’s southwestern Belgorod region, said 11 civilians had been wounded in cross-border drone and artillery attacks over the previous 24 hours.
The attacks in Russia killed at least one person and wounded 15 in total.
Five people also killed in Ukraine
Ukrainian officials said at least five people were killed in Russian attacks on different parts of the country. They said a 3-year-old child was among those killed.
