The panel “From Zero Waste to COP31: Türkiye’s Climate Diplomacy,” organized by Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications, was held in Ankara. The directorate’s book “Climate Diplomacy” was presented at the event. COP31 President and Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum took part in the program.
Director Burhanettin Duran noted that climate change is directly linked to global justice, international cooperation and security. He said Türkiye continues its efforts to combat climate change in line with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2053, while the Zero Waste movement, under the patronage of Emine Erdoğan, has become a distinct instrument of “soft power” for the country.

Duran stressed that effective communication and combating disinformation are important for the success of climate policy.
The UN Climate Change Conference COP31 will be held in Antalya from November 9 to 20. Duran said Türkiye’s goal is to accelerate the transformation of international commitments into concrete results and develop cooperation among countries.
