President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made significant remarks at a ceremony in Istanbul for the delivery of the 'Cam Roman' patrol vessel to the Romanian Naval Forces and the commissioning of new platforms for the Turkish Naval Forces.
Historic export
Erdoğan said, "Thanks to the contract signed with Romania, Turkey has exported a warship to a NATO and European Union member country for the first time in its history."
Record period in shipbuilding sector
The President emphasized that the Turkish warship building sector is experiencing its busiest and most productive period in the 103-year history of the Republic. Erdoğan stated, "Our annual exports were $248 million 23 years ago. Today, we reach that figure in just one week. To date, we have built more than 140 naval platforms for various regions of the world. We are one of the countries building the most warships simultaneously."
Sharing defense industry achievements
Erdoğan indicated that Turkey is ready to share its achievements in the defense industry with friendly countries. "We consider it our duty to share the capabilities and competencies we possess in the field of defense industry with friendly countries," he said.
Goal of regional peace and stability
The President said Turkey's aim is not to create tension in the region, but to strengthen peace, justice, tranquility, and stability. Pointing out that the world is going through an extremely unstable period, Erdoğan assessed, "We are living through an extremely chaotic period where those who are not strong on the ground find no place at the table, and are sometimes even on the menu."
