US President Donald Trump will attend the working session of the G7 summit in France next week and will sit at the same table with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski.
Trump is scheduled to travel to Evian-les-Bains from June 15 to 17, and on June 16, he will meet with Zelenski and other G7 leaders during the session.
No separate bilateral meeting schedule has been announced for the two leaders yet. However, officials have indicated that there is a possibility of contact during the summit's sidelines.
The Ukraine War is on the Agenda
The Ukraine war is expected to be one of the main topics of the meeting. Officials in Washington said that discussions will focus on providing additional military support to Kyiv and efforts to end the conflict.
A senior US official noted that Russia's advance in Ukraine has slowed and expressed the desire for the war to end as soon as possible.
Zelenski's participation in the summit comes at a time when Ukraine is requesting more military aid from its allies. Kyiv is seeking additional air defense systems to protect its cities and critical infrastructure.
Ukraine continues to carry out long-range strikes on Russian targets and faces intensified missile attacks from Russia.
France Shapes the Agenda with 2026 G7 Presidency
France, holding the G7 presidency in 2026, prioritizes global crises. The Paris administration views continued support for Ukraine as part of this agenda.
The G7 consists of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the US. The European Union also participates in the group's activities.
