Thousands march for Palestine in New York on third anniversary of Oct. 7
A pro-Palestinian march drew thousands to Manhattan’s streets, while protesters surrounded a Union Square memorial attended by Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
A mass pro-Palestinian march took place in New York on Wednesday, the third anniversary of the Oct. 7, 2023 attack, drawing thousands of people according to U.S. media.
Columns of demonstrators marched from City Hall and Wall Street through Washington Square Park and Union Square to Madison Square Park, where the action ended in the evening. Participants waved Palestinian flags and chanted "Free Palestine."
In Union Square, demonstrators surrounded a memorial organized by an Israeli peace group. Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who attended, was greeted with chants of "traitor," and organizers moved the event behind a police cordon.
