US European Command (EUCOM) officials reported that approximately 80 thousand US soldiers are stationed in Europe and this number is regularly updated depending on international developments. Germany hosts the largest US military presence with about 38 thousand permanent and rotational soldiers. These soldiers are deployed in regions such as Wiesbaden, Rhein-Pfalz, Stuttgart, and Bavaria.
EUCOM officials stated that the number of soldiers can change month to month due to planned exercises and force rotations. They also emphasized that the US continuously reviews and adjusts its defense and deterrence posture in close cooperation with NATO allies.
In the past, the Trump administration considered reducing the number of soldiers in Germany, and statements were made that the number of soldiers in Italy and Spain could also be reviewed. These developments are being closely monitored by the Pentagon and defense officials. Germany remains the country with the largest US military presence in Europe.
