The economic, scientific and technical cooperation commission between Slovakia and Russia will resume work in Moscow on October 26 after a four-year hiatus. The meeting will be the commission's 22nd session.
Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár will lead the Slovak delegation. Energy issues are expected to take center stage in the talks in Moscow.
Energy on the Moscow agenda
The sides will discuss natural gas shipments, the continuation of oil supplies and cooperation in the field of civilian nuclear energy. The working groups will also address agriculture, environmental protection, tourism, sports and culture.
A business forum is planned in Moscow after the meeting concludes.
Bratislava emphasizes sanctions limits
The Slovak Foreign Ministry said the country remains committed to its obligations arising from its membership in the European Union and NATO. Bratislava aims to develop cooperation with Russia in areas compatible with existing sanctions restrictions.

Slovak Deputy Foreign Minister Marek Eštok also said they had firmly rejected efforts to establish a new "Iron Curtain" between the European Union and Russia.
Commission's work was suspended in 2022
The decision to reactivate the commission was made during a 2025 meeting between Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The commission's last meeting was held in Bratislava in November 2021. Its work was suspended after Russia launched its full-scale military operation against Ukraine in 2022.
