Russian tennis player Anastasia Gasanova defeats Emiliana Arango 6-3, 6-1 in first round at Wimbledon
Russian racket Anastasia Gasanova earned her first Grand Slam main draw victory at Wimbledon. She will face Japanese Naomi Osaka in the second round.
Russian tennis player Anastasia Gasanova advanced to the second round of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships by defeating Colombian Emiliana Arango 6-3, 6-1 in the first round. The match on the grass courts of London lasted 1 hour and 9 minutes.
The 27-year-old racket earned her first Grand Slam main draw victory with this result. Gasanova had entered the main draw at Roland Garros in 2022 but was eliminated in the first round.
In the second round, Gasanova will face 14th-seeded Japanese Naomi Osaka.
In another match of the day, 32nd-seeded Czech Katerina Siniakova defeated Chinese Zheng Qinwen 6-4, 6-4. Representing Austria, Anastasia Potapova (27th seed) lost to Spanish Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 2-6, 3-6.
