Only one athlete from Russia will compete in the Argentine leg of the International Winter Swimming Association (IWSA) World Cup. The Russian Winter Swimming Federation (ФЗПР) announced that despite official invitations from the organizers and the Argentine government, limited financial resources mean only Vladislav Sapozhnikov will be sent to the races in El Calafate.
The 28-year-old Sapozhnikov, who will compete in the events scheduled for August 2-9, holds numerous Russian championship titles and national records. He also serves as the president of the Murmansk Regional Winter Swimming Federation.
