Russia extended the ban on gasoline exports following attacks by Ukrainian drones on oil refineries. The government extended the temporary ban on gasoline exports until January 31, 2027.
The Russian government stated that the decision was taken to maintain price stability in the domestic market. The ban also covered exports of diesel, marine fuel, and gas oil, in addition to gasoline.
However, starting September 1, diesel, marine fuel, and gas oil exported by producers will be exempt from these restrictions. Additionally, shipments made under international intergovernmental agreements will also be excluded from the ban.
Drone attacks forced many oil refineries in Russia to undergo maintenance, and restrictions on fuel sales were introduced in some regions. The government had previously banned exports of gasoline and diesel as part of precautionary measures.
