Russia once again voiced its clear stance on the military operations conducted against Iran. Speaking on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Kyrgyzstan, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko stated that Moscow's position on the US and Israeli military actions against Iran remains unchanged.
Rudenko said that Russia has strongly condemned these attacks from the very beginning and considers them an illegal act of aggression against Iran. The Russian diplomat noted that they have maintained the same position since the attacks began, and in light of recent developments, they believe one of the parties has violated the agreements reached.
Stressing that Moscow supports the resumption of diplomatic efforts, Rudenko said such a process would serve the interests of all countries in the region.
Rudenko also touched on Tehran-Moscow relations, stating that the two countries have signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement and both sides are determined to fully implement all its provisions. He added that the agreement covers various areas such as economic and trade cooperation, the development of the International North-South Transport Corridor, and coordination on regional issues, and that implementation is being pursued seriously.
The Russian official also drew attention to Iran's full membership in the SCO. Noting that Russia supported and at one stage assisted this process, Rudenko expressed hope that Iran would continue to view the SCO as a useful and effective platform for advancing its national interests.
