Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the country's economy and key sectors are stable. Putin was speaking at a meeting on economic issues, according to a statement by the Kremlin Press Service on Wednesday, July 22.
"The state of the domestic economy and key sectors is stable, despite external attempts to destabilize the situation in the fuel and energy complex and some other sectors," Putin said.
The Russian leader also addressed the difficulties in the fuel market. "The challenges created for us in the fuel market are, of course, temporary and do not have the capacity to affect overall economic dynamics," he said.

The meeting also addressed bank loans and support measures for the regions.
Putin noted that, according to the Ministry of Economic Development's assessment, gross domestic product (GDP) grew in May, albeit at a modest pace, and was in positive territory at 0.3 percent. He added that growth was 0.2 percent in the first five months of the year.
Stressing that the key factor behind the growth is domestic demand, Putin said, "One of the key factors here is, of course, domestic demand coming from the state, the business community, and citizens."
