Russian President Vladimir Putin highlighted the role of the country’s space capabilities in security, communications and navigation, and called for strengthening its satellite constellation in orbit and ground infrastructure.
Putin congratulated the Space Forces Command, personnel and veterans on Space Forces Day. In his message published on October 4, he said military and civilian personnel bear responsibility for protecting Russia’s security.

Space capabilities and strategic balance
Putin said Russia’s existing space capabilities were built through the work of designers, scientists, engineers, testing specialists and military experts from different generations. He said this accumulated expertise had provided the country with missile and space infrastructure supporting strategic balance.

Putin said Space Forces personnel ensure the operation of communications and navigation systems. He added that they also deliver the necessary information and data to the armed forces and units participating in the special military operation.
Focus on advanced technologies
The Russian president said that, in addition to developing the satellite constellation and ground infrastructure, advanced technologies should be produced for new weapons and military equipment. Putin also called for future-oriented research to continue.

Putin said he believed Space Forces personnel would increase the capabilities of the army and navy and contribute to implementing Russia’s space program.
