In the Japanese capital, pro-Palestinian supporters called for a full boycott of Israel as they marched through the streets of Tokyo carrying Palestinian flags.
Widely circulated footage shows participants carrying a huge banner in Japanese reading “Boycott! Israel, an apartheid state” and posters saying “Stop the genocide.” The exact date on which the footage was filmed could not be independently established.
A wave of demonstrations in Tokyo
Pro-Palestinian demonstrations have been taking place more frequently in Tokyo in recent weeks. On October 7, marking the third anniversary of the start of Israel’s military operation in Gaza, around 1,000 people marched approximately 4 kilometers through the Shibuya district, from Jingu-dori Park via the famous crossing to Omotesando.

Last week, participants at a demonstration near Ikebukuro Station condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza and the West Bank and called on Japanese companies to sever business ties with Israeli military companies.
