Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy could not meet at the G20 Summit to be held in Miami in December.
According to Peskov, the only possible venue for a meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy would be Moscow. The Kremlin spokesperson said the Ukrainian president would have to travel to the Russian capital if he wanted to meet the Russian leader.
The invitation to Moscow remains valid
Peskov said the invitation extended to Zelenskyy to visit Moscow remained valid. His comments came after Zelenskyy said he was ready to meet Putin during the G20 Summit.
Zelenskyy had previously said he was ready to travel to Miami and meet the Russian president if Putin attended the summit. The Ukrainian president said that the outcome of such a meeting would matter more than the words used during it.
Putin's attendance at the G20 remains uncertain
Peskov also said it was not yet known whether Putin would attend the G20 Summit in Miami.
