Russia’s human rights commissioner Yana Lantratova said international observers had given a positive assessment of the organization of the 2026 Unified Voting Day elections in Moscow.
Lantratova shared this assessment at a roundtable in Moscow titled “Election observation: international dialogue and best practices.” The meeting addressed the results of the international observation process with representatives of national human rights institutions.
From September 18 to 20, 14 international observers representing national human rights institutions in 10 countries worked in Moscow. Divided into two groups, the observers visited 62 polling stations in different parts of the capital.
The observers had the opportunity to examine the organization of the 2026 Unified Voting Day elections on site. Lantratova thanked them for their high assessment of the conditions provided for citizens to express their free will and of the security measures.
Elections for deputies of the ninth State Duma were held from September 18 to 20 alongside other elections. A total of 20.7 thousand parliamentary and elected positions were contested as part of the 2026 Unified Voting Day.
