The military exercise that the United States and South Korea will hold next week has drawn sharp criticism from North Korea’s Foreign Ministry. The ministry described the exercise as “training for a war of aggression.”
In a statement issued Friday, North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said the Ulchi Freedom Shield exercise would begin on Monday and continue for 11 days.
The statement argued that the exercise would create a new level of instability in the region. The ministry also claimed that this year’s exercise would be more dangerous, provocative and threatening than last year’s.
North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said the country would exercise its right to self-defense against all threats and challenges. The ministry said this would demonstrate its stance toward its “enemies” more clearly.
The exercise will cover all military capabilities and combat methods of the United States and South Korea.
