One person was killed and three injured in reciprocal air strikes carried out by Russia and Ukraine on Friday night. The strikes affected residential and transport infrastructure in Kyiv and industrial infrastructure in Russia’s Volgograd region.
One person killed in Kyiv as bridge closed to traffic
A Russian unmanned aerial vehicle struck a residential building in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district. The Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office said one person was killed and two were injured in the incident.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the Pivdennyi Bridge was targeted in another Russian attack. Klitschko said the bridge was closed to traffic in both directions.
The Ukrainian Air Force said 108 attack drones were used overnight and that 88 of them were shot down or neutralized.

Russian Defense Ministry identifies targets in Kyiv and Odesa
The Russian Defense Ministry announced that port and energy infrastructure in Ukraine, as well as vessels allegedly used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, had been targeted.
According to the ministry, a road and railway bridge over the Dnipro River in Kyiv was struck because it facilitated the shipment of troops and military equipment to Ukrainian forces in Donbas. The statement also said an electrical substation in Nalivaikivka, near Kyiv, was targeted.
The Russian Defense Ministry also said an industrial complex at the Port of Izmail in the Odesa region had been targeted because it was allegedly used to receive, store and transport military cargo and fuel.

The ministry said a cargo ship in the Black Sea was also hit. It alleged that the vessel was carrying military equipment for the Ukrainian army to Odesa, as well as dual-use cargo.
Fire breaks out in apartment building in Volgograd
Ukrainian drones targeted industrial infrastructure in Russia’s Volgograd region. Regional Governor Andrey Bocharov said a fire broke out in an apartment building and that one person was taken to hospital. Bocharov said the fire had been brought under control.
The Russian Defense Ministry said air defense systems had intercepted or destroyed 646 Ukrainian-made fixed-wing drones over various regions of Russia, occupied Crimea, the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
Independent verification of the parties’ statements about the attacks and air defense systems remains difficult because of the ongoing war.
Ukraine’s Air Force said 88 of the 108 drones used in the attack, 47 of them jet-powered, were neutralized. Two people were injured in the Sumy region and seven in the Kherson region, while traffic on Kyiv’s Southern and Paton bridges was temporarily restricted.
