Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia had responded to attacks carried out by Ukraine in the Black Sea.
Speaking to journalists, Peskov said Ukraine must pay a price for its maritime attacks. “It is already paying and will continue to pay,” Peskov said.

The aim is to cut maritime deliveries
Peskov said Moscow was continuing what it describes as a “special military operation” in Ukraine. He said one of the aims was to prevent ammunition, military equipment and fuel from reaching the Ukrainian army by sea.
Peskov stresses the need for a comprehensive agreement
Peskov argued that the Kyiv administration had not shown a willingness to pursue comprehensive agreements, saying that piecemeal agreements would not lead to a peaceful solution. He said agreements must be comprehensive for a lasting settlement.

Peskov also said that Russian President Vladimir Putin had said the previous day that peace, rather than a ceasefire, was needed.
