The Moscow Transport Department issued a traffic warning for drivers on Friday. In a statement, the department said evening traffic would begin around 4 p.m. and congestion would persist into the late hours. Given that many people will leave the city for visits or holidays, drivers were asked to postpone trips until after 8 p.m. whenever possible.
Heavy congestion is expected especially on arterial roads heading out of the city, the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD), the Garden Ring and the Third Ring Road (TTK). According to data from the Traffic Management Center, the busiest areas are: the outbound direction of Entuziastov Highway, the section of the Third Ring Road near Sushchevsky Val Street, the part of the Garden Ring near Sadovaya-Karetnaya Street, and the section of the MKAD near Leningradskoye Highway.
