The Gazprom-owned Moscow refinery, which supplies fuel to the Russian capital and its surrounding areas, sustained damage severe enough to force a halt in production. Thick black smoke covered the city, and 260 flights were canceled at four airports in the region. According to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, 194 explosive-laden kamikaze drones targeted the refinery.
Although air defense systems were activated, around 20 drones struck fuel tanks and production facilities. With production halted, it is expected that finding gasoline and diesel in Moscow will become impossible in the coming days. However, the Moscow Municipality announced that all fuel stations remain operational.
