The detention of former Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov in his 1.3 billion-ruble bribery case has been extended until January 6. Denis Baluyev, Ivanov’s lawyer, announced the decision by the Simonovsky Court in Moscow.
Because the hearings are being held behind closed doors, Ivanov is being held in a pretrial detention center rather than the penal colony where he was previously serving a sentence. Baluyev said the detention was linked to the new case.
Fomin’s detention also extended
The court also extended the detention of Aleksandr Fomin, the head of OlimpSitiStroy and another defendant in the case.

Earlier ruling against Ivanov
On July 1, 2025, the Moscow City Court sentenced Ivanov to 13 years in prison in an embezzlement case. The court also imposed a fine of 100 million rubles and stripped him of his state decorations.
Ivanov’s defense appealed the ruling several times and took the case to the Supreme Court. The sentence was not changed.
