Whether Vladimir Putin will attend the G20 Summit in Miami will become clear after the Kremlin’s assessment through diplomatic channels. The U.S. administration invited the Russian president to the summit planned for December in Miami, Florida.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the invitation could give Putin an opportunity to meet not only with U.S. President Donald Trump but also with other world leaders.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia welcomed the invitation. Peskov stated that the decision on whether Putin will attend the summit would be made through diplomatic channels.
New invitation follows Putin-Trump meeting
Putin and Trump met in Anchorage, Alaska, in August 2025. The meeting marked the Russian leader’s first visit to the United States in 10 years.
Putin has not visited the U.S. mainland’s 48 contiguous states since the period before the outbreak of the full-scale war in Ukraine.
