Former Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimović said Cristiano Ronaldo’s huge ego had damaged the legacy he built during his career and the achievements he had earned.
According to Ibrahimović, Ronaldo should have ended his career at its peak and spoken with his teammates before leaving Portugal’s national team. The former Swedish footballer said departing without speaking to them would amount to disrespecting his teammates.

Ronaldo’s situation in Portugal’s camp
Ronaldo did not start in Portugal’s 2-1 Nations League victory over Norway in Oslo and finished the match on the bench.
Ronaldo allegedly did not take part in the training session held after the match. Following a press conference at which head coach Jorge Jesus announced that Ronaldo would not be included in the squad for the next match, the 41-year-old footballer allegedly left the national-team camp and decided to end his international career.

Ronaldo’s national-team achievements
Ronaldo won the European Championship in 2016. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is regarded as the record holder at international level, with 234 appearances and 146 goals.
