The Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Stage hosted an unusual musical meeting. The Alexandrov Russian Red Army Choir and Dance Ensemble shared the stage with rock artist Hayko Cepkin at the opening of their Turkey tour.
Speaking at the concert's opening, Hayko Cepkin said the night would witness historic moments. "I will give the most interesting concert of my life together with the Red Army team. I am used to appearing before you with large orchestras, but now I have come with a whole army. There probably couldn't be a bigger crowd than this," he said.
The concert took place in two acts. In the first part, the Red Army Choir performed. The ensemble presented Russian folk music, military marches, classical works and dance shows to the audience.
In the second act, Hayko Cepkin's rock repertoire was blended with the century-old choral tradition. Modern rock sounds combined with the choir's powerful voice to create a unique musical experience.
Tour to continue in four cities
The team, which started its Turkey tour with a two-day concert series in Istanbul, will perform in four more cities. As part of the tour, they will meet music lovers on June 28 at Izmir Bornova Asik Veysel Open-Air Theatre, on June 30 at Antalya Open-Air Theatre, on July 2 at Adana Cukurova University Open-Air Theatre, and on July 3-4 at Ankara Oran Open-Air Stage.
