Gold prices fell on Wednesday in Baghdad and Erbil. According to market surveys, prices remained around 900,000 Iraqi dinars per miskal.
On El-Nahr Street in Baghdad, the wholesale selling price of 21-carat Gulf, Turkish, and European gold was recorded at 909,000 dinars, with the buying price at 905,000 dinars. These figures are below the 936,000 dinars level seen on Tuesday.
In the same market, locally made 21-carat gold was sold at 879,000 dinars, with a buying price of 875,000 dinars. In jewelry stores, Gulf-type 21-carat gold traded between 910,000 and 920,000 dinars.
Locally made 21-carat gold was priced between 880,000 and 890,000 dinars in jewelry stores. Thus, a downward trend was observed in both wholesale and retail markets in the capital.
Prices also dropped in Erbil. In the city, 22-carat gold was sold at 953,000 dinars, 21-carat gold at 910,000 dinars, and 18-carat gold at 780,000 dinars.
This movement in gold prices highlighted the difference between the market in northern Iraq and sales levels in the capital. The intraday figures showed that 21-carat gold traded close to the 900,000 dinar range in both cities.
