The European Commission said the assistance is intended to meet Ukraine’s financing needs, support the continuation of reforms and help maintain the functioning of its public administration.
Of this amount, €800 million came from the Ukraine Support Loan program, which has a total budget of €90 billion. The payment was made after Ukraine carried out reforms in the judiciary, financial markets, business environment, energy, transport, agriculture and green transition.

The European Commission said the payment was the eighth disbursement under the financial assistance program for Ukraine. With the latest installment, total support provided under the program has exceeded €32 billion.
