Russia's flag carrier airline Aeroflot is celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Moscow-Minsk air route, a key link between Russia and Belarus. The company announced it carried over 1.7 million passengers on this historic route in the last five years.
The busiest period of the past five years was 2025, when approximately 469,000 people used the Moscow-Minsk route. In the first six months of 2026, the airline carried nearly 230,000 passengers, a 3.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
The Moscow-Minsk air route was inaugurated in 1936 with the first mail and cargo flight by pilot S. Ryabushenko in a K-5 aircraft. This flight is considered the beginning of regular air service between the two capitals.
According to Aeroflot's current summer schedule, flights to Minsk are operated from Moscow, as well as from Cheboksary starting June 29 and from Nizhny Novgorod starting July 5.
