In a phone call with US Vice President JD Vance, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy raised the country's air defense needs and the supply of Patriot systems.
Zelenskyy said in a statement on Telegram that the main agenda item of the call was strengthening air defense against Russia's ongoing air strikes. The Ukrainian leader stated, "Russian air attacks on our country are not stopping and air defense remains our top priority."
The two leaders discussed the supply of Patriot surface-to-air missile systems to Ukraine in this context. They also assessed the results of the earlier meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington.
Zelenskyy and Vance also addressed the global market repercussions of the war in Ukraine. At the end of the call, Zelenskyy thanked the US for its support to Ukraine and its people.
