Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelenskiy held a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday. In a statement on his social media account after the call, Zelenskiy said he briefed Macron on the situation on the battlefield and the main threats.
Zelenskiy stressed that Russia is doing everything to continue its missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities and villages. The Ukrainian leader said, 'We discussed our means of countering them, protecting our lives, and the need for additional air defense systems. We very much hope for France's support and decisive steps.'
Assessing the diplomatic process, Zelenskiy said that Macron clearly knows all the details of the current diplomatic perspectives. Zelenskiy said:
In negotiations, in pressuring Russia, and in approaching peace, it is important that we take every step as prepared as possible and in coordination with key partners. Our position is that Europe must be involved in the diplomatic process and that Europe's voice must carry weight.
