Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the Berlin government had failed to make sufficient efforts to identify those responsible for the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines and bring them to justice.

Speaking at a briefing on October 8, Zakharova argued that German authorities had shown no interest for four years in investigating the truth about the incident and holding those behind the attack accountable.

Zakharova also claimed that, contrary to the view that Germany’s judicial process was impartial and independent, there had been no willingness to ensure that the perpetrators and planners of the sabotage were held accountable.
Moscow seeks an international investigation
At the same briefing, Zakharova said Russia would continue its efforts on international platforms to identify not only the perpetrators of the explosions on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, but also those ultimately responsible. Explosions occurred on September 26, 2022, on the pipelines used by Russia to export gas to Europe, and Germany, Denmark and Sweden did not rule out deliberate sabotage. Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office launched an investigation into the incident as an act of international terrorism, while Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow had not received information despite repeatedly requesting the data.
