Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, described statements by European politicians blaming Russia for their domestic problems as evidence of self-exposure.
In an interview with Vladimir Solovyov on 22 October, Zakharova said allegations that an incident in Europe had been planned or carried out by Russia reflected a particular kind of rhetoric.

According to the diplomat, the European side is revealing its own approach by blaming Russia. Zakharova argued that these statements were self-exposing in nature and said, ironically, that Russia could thank the European side for that reason.
Dmitry Peskov, press secretary to the president of Russia, had previously said that accusations of Russia’s purported involvement in protests in Europe were no longer taken seriously.
