Status of other defendants
Russia's Investigative Committee reported that the case of a second defendant connected to the incident continues to be heard in the Southern Military District Court.
A third defendant has been subjected to compulsory medical treatment due to a psychiatric disorder.
Background of the incident
At the end of August 2024, Russia's Investigative Committee announced that a terrorist attack on a church in Sunzha, Ingushetia, and a series of sabotage acts had been prevented by security forces.
At the time of the incident, three local residents who were minors were held responsible for these preparations.
In 2025, criminal cases against these individuals were brought to court.
According to the investigation, the three defendants, having joined an international terrorist organization banned in Russia in August 2024, planned a terrorist attack in Sunzha and an armed assault on security forces.
For this purpose, they had acquired and stored automatic firearms and explosive devices in a hidden cache in the foothills of the Sunzhensky district.
