Moscow’s 235th Garrison Military Court has ordered Major General Sergey Nikitushkin, who serves in Russia’s military training system, to stand trial in custody. The decision was made on Wednesday evening.
No details were disclosed about the charges facing Nikitushkin or the scope of the criminal case.
Military training and service in the war in Ukraine
Nikitushkin, 51, headed the department responsible for training facilities and equipment at the Russian Armed Forces’ Main Directorate of Combat Training. The directorate oversees the development of infrastructure used to train soldiers, the training of units and the supply of equipment.

Nikitushkin served in Russia’s war in Ukraine and was promoted to major general in December 2024. The Baza Telegram channel reported that he had worked on modernizing Russia’s tank training grounds.
Nikitushkin had previously said that there was insufficient funding to purchase the simulators needed for training in the use of armored vehicles, communications equipment, unmanned aerial vehicles and night-vision devices. He said the war in Ukraine had demonstrated the importance of this equipment in preparing soldiers for future conflicts.
Cases linked to Patriot Park
The Main Directorate of Combat Training is also responsible for overseeing Patriot Park, a military exhibition complex near Moscow. Patriot Park has been linked to embezzlement cases involving numerous senior officers.

Former Deputy Defense Minister Pavel Popov was among those convicted in these cases. Popov’s prison sentence was reduced to 10 years. Major General Vladimir Shesterov, the former deputy head of the Defense Ministry’s Directorate for Innovation Development, was sentenced to six years in prison.
In June, Putin appointed Colonel General Rustam Muradov to head the Main Directorate of Combat Training.
