The Ukrainian Armed Forces' Unmanned Systems Forces launched a drone attack on the Shagol military airfield located in Russia's Chelyabinsk Oblast on April 25. According to a statement by the Ukrainian General Staff, the attack was directed at this base approximately 1,700 kilometers away. The Ukrainian side shared footage after the operation, stating that two Su-57 and one Su-34 fighter jets were targeted in the attack.
Commander Robert Brovdi emphasized that the Su-34 and Su-57 fighter jets are critically important in reducing the enemy's air strike capability. It was stated that the Su-34 is an important strike platform with its long range and capacity to carry various guided munitions, while the Su-57 is Russia's advanced fifth-generation stealth fighter jet. Brovdi noted that neutralizing such aircraft would contribute to reducing air strikes on civilian targets and easing pressure on air defense systems.
While no official statement was made about the extent of the damage after the attack, the Ukrainian side reported that the operation aimed to limit Russia's air strike capability.
