Russia's Chelyabinsk region is hosting the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) countries' "Interaction-2026," "Search-2026" and "Echelon-2026" exercises.
The three exercises were opened at the Chebarkulsky training ground. The ceremony was attended by Colonel General Andrey Serdyukov, chief of the CSTO Joint Staff; CSTO Deputy Secretary-General Mirlan Turgunbekov; military unit commanders; and invited officials.
Units from four countries arrive at exercise area
Units from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are taking part in the "Interaction-2026" command-and-staff exercise conducted with the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces. The deployment of these units to the exercise areas has been completed.
The exercise will focus on preparing and conducting a joint operation to contain an armed conflict that has broken out in a border area.
Intelligence and logistical support planned
The "Search-2026" special exercise will address the planning and conduct of intelligence activities in line with the needs of the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces.
During "Echelon-2026," work will focus on how to organize logistical support for the units.
Colonel General Andrey Serdyukov said the exercises were planned and were not directed against third countries. He said the activities aim to improve coordination between command authorities and units and ensure that the forces are ready to carry out their tasks as part of efforts to provide collective security.
