Temporary restrictions on fuel sales have been introduced in several Russian regions, citing high demand and logistical difficulties.
Implementation in the Voronezh Region
According to a statement from the Voronezh regional government, temporary restrictions began at Lukoil fuel stations starting June 23. At stations within the city, sales will be limited to 30 liters of gasoline and 60 liters of diesel fuel per vehicle at a time. On highways, these limits are set at 60 liters of gasoline and 200 liters of diesel fuel.
Regional officials stated that federal chain stations have sufficient quantities of AI-95 and AI-92 gasoline and diesel fuel, but that temporary shortages at some stations stem from logistics and increased demand.
Decisions in the Omsk and Saratov regions
Omsk Region Governor Vitali Hotsenko announced that fuel at stations will only be sold into vehicle tanks, and sales into canisters will not be permitted. A limit of 40 liters of gasoline and 80 liters of diesel per vehicle will apply at city stations, while highway stations will have a limit of 40 liters of gasoline and 200 liters of diesel fuel.
Saratov Region Governor Roman Busargin announced a limit of 30 liters of gasoline per vehicle for individual car owners, effective from June 23 to 30. Busargin stated that this decision was taken to "reduce baseless panic and possible speculation in the fuel market."
The governor noted that high demand for all types of gasoline in recent days has placed an additional burden on logistics chains, and that purchases were often made far in excess of actual need.
Statements from other regions
Vladimir Region Governor Aleksandr Avdeyev called on citizens to reduce car usage and buy only the necessary amount of gasoline. Avdeyev said the fuel shortage stems from logistical disruptions at some companies and panic among drivers.
In Crimea, fuel sales have been completely halted. Sales can only be made to public officials.
